London Canal Museum is just five minutes' walk from King's Cross station, yet located in a quiet area, beside the urban beauty spot that is Battlebridge Basin on the Regent's Canal. It is outstandingly easy to reach from all over London and most parts of the UK. Several Underground lines and Thameslink trains serve King's Cross as well as local and long distance routes into King's Cross and St. Pancras Station. It is just 10 minutes' walk from St. Pancras International station. Euston station is only 15 minutes' walk. There are also numerous bus routes.

From the front of King's Cross mainline station, turn left and walk alongside the station, down York Way. Carry on until you see a traffic island in the middle of the road with a right turn, this is Wharfdale Road. Follow Wharfdale Road until you see New Wharf Road which is the second turning on the left. From the Pentonville Road exit from the Underground station, exit from the station, turning left. Turn right at the traffic lights, cross the road and walk straight along the road opposite. Keep straight on via Balfe Street when the Caledonian Road turns to the right and you will reach Wharfdale Road. (Note Pentoville Road exist is open for restricted hours)

Stations and walking time

By bus

There are numerous routes to and from King's Cross. Routes 91 northbound (from Charing Cross, Euston) and 17 (from London Bridge) stop in Wharfdale Road, 2 minutes' walk from the museum. Route 390 southbound also stops at the same place.

By car

The museum is accessibly by car and parking is easily available in the evenings and weekends. We are in a Controlled Parking Zone and parking restrictions apply 0800-1830 Mondays to Fridays, and 0800-1330 Saturdays. When the parking restrictions are in force parking in the area is difficult. There are some parking meters in nearby streets.

After 1830 Mondays to Fridays, after 1330 Saturdays, and all day on Sundays, there is free street parking in New Wharf Road and surrounding streets. Note that "residents only" parking areas are restricted to permit holders at certain times - check the sign before you park.
