Our admission charges, for groups of 10 people or more, are even better value
than our standard charges. You can also opt for added extras to make the visit perfect for your group.
Group admission charges are:

For groups of 25 or more paying adults, one organiser is admitted free
For groups of children, one supervising adult is admitted free for

Group admission charges are paid by the organiser on behalf of

Extras for Groups
Welcome to the museum
A 10 minute orientation talk, giving you some of the highlights of the museum and an insight into its colourful history.
Price: Complimentary (minimum 20 in group)
History of the Ice Trade and Ice Cream Making
From the days when the museum was a 19th century ice warehouse, step back to Victorian times for a one hour
talk about the ice trade through the lives of Carlo Gatti and Mrs Agnes Marshall. Includes a demonstration
of ice cream-making using our replica Victorian ice cream churn; you'll watch, take part and enjoy a small
sample at the end.

A specialist talk
A fascinating 45 minute presentation about a subject of interest to your group. Our topics include:
- London’s Regent’s Canal
- Carlo Gatti and London’s ice trade
- General history of inland waterways
- John Gilbert, premier canal builder
- Leeds-Liverpool Canal
- Bridgewater Canal
- Huddersfield Narrow Canal
- Rochdale Canal
Price: £75
Guided towpath walk
Learn more about the London’s inspiring canal history with a private guided towpath walk. This can start from the museum and end in Camden,
or the other way around. Allow about 90 minutes for the walk.
Price: £6.50 per person (minimum 10 persons)
Boat trip
We’d be happy to help arrange a canal boat trip. We work with local community organisations that offer narrowboats for up 12 people.
So if there are more more than 12 in the group, you will need to run more than one trip. Whilst one group is on the boat, the other will be
enjoying the museum. One hour is ideal so you can travel through the historic Islington Tunnel. Read more on our Boat Trips for Groups page.

Tea and coffee
Enjoy Fairtrade coffee or tea with biscuits. This needs to be for the whole group and is also paid by the group organiser on entry.

Booking your visit
Please book in advance. You can book using the form on this page or enquire via groups@lcmemail.co.uk. You can telephone us on 020 7713 0836. We may need to call you
back so we’ll asked for your name, telephone number and email address.
When we book you in, our group visits co-ordinator will work out with you any extras you would like. We’ll need to know the time and date of
your visit and an estimate of numbers with the make up of your group (eg adults, children, seniors).
You pay on the day, with the group organiser making a single payment by cash or card. For group rates, we do not take individual payments.
Please allow between one and two hours for your visit, not including any extras you decide on.
Our talks, walks and Mrs Marshall sessions are led by volunteers. We will try our very best to work with you on a suitable date for any of these optional extras.
Transport
We are within easy walking distance of King's Cross St. Pancras and other excellent public transport. Find out more on our travel page.
Coaches can drop off passengers right outside our front door. You can find the nearest on-street coach meters through this Transport for London page.
Lunch
There are numerous restaurants, small cafes and pubs within easy walking distance.
We'll be happy to listen to your preferences and budget, and make suggestions based on our good local knowledge.
You can arrange for a buffet lunch to be delivered by a caterer to the museum. The group organiser will need to book and pay for the lunch delivery directly with the supplier.
You are welcome to bring picnics. In fine weather groups often like to eat outside.
Alcoholic drinks are not permitted during normal opening hours. Events with alcohol are considered to be private functions. Please see our venue hire sub-site for information

Museum shop
Remember to allow enough time to visit our well-stocked shop. You can browse an extensive range of books about canals, and we have many different unique souvenirs and gifts to
suit every purse or pocket and for all ages.
Toilets
We have a ladies' and gents' toilets on the first floor. There is a gender-neutral toilet near the entrance on the ground floor, designed for wheelchair users and the
mobility impaired. Anyone can use this. It also has a baby changing facility.
Accessibility information
The museum is fully accessible. It is on two floors with lifts between (in addition to stairs). Read about our information for disabled visitors.
Itinerary ideas
These are just examples - we can help you plan your day to suit your group:
Walking and boating
Arrive at 11am. Guide gives you an introduction and is available to answer questions while you look around informally. At 1pm go to a local pub or cafe for lunch,
or group members choose their own arrangements. We can offer directions to nearby facilities. At 2pm assemble back at the museum for a guided towpath walk to Camden.
At 3.30pm arrive at Camden and board a boat for a trip to Little Venice. The day ends around 4.30. Group members travel home from Little Venice by bus, train or Underground.
Boating
A group of up to 24 arrive at 1.30pm. After a short introduction, 12 group members embark on a community narrowboat for a trip through Islington Tunnel whilst
the others enjoy the museum. At around 2.45pm the second 12 group members go for a narrowboat ride, whilst the first group visit the museum. The visit ends at 4pm.
Walking
Meet your guide at Camden at 1.30pm for a guided walk to the museum, arriving around 3pm. Your guide introduces the museum and arranges tea/coffee whilst your
group watches our archive film. Members of the group view the exhibits until around 4.15pm.
Making
Arrive at 11am. Guide gives you an introduction and is available to answer questions while you look around informally. At 1pm go to a local pub
or cafe for lunch, or group members choose their own arrangements. At 2pm assemble back for a one hour ice cream making and tasting session with ‘Mrs Marshall’.
Leave the museum after a final look around and visit to the shop.
