The entrance to The Regent’s Canal at Limehouse, a drawing by Thomas Shepherd. The basin at Limehouse was created to enable ships to transfer cargo to and from canal boats. Nowadays the basin is called Limehouse Basin but during the working days of the canal it was known as The Regent’s Canal Dock.
