File Sizes

Note that "Original" or "Maximum" size does not mean the image as originally scanned but means the largest size available for download from this site. When you choose a file size, the dimensions you choose are the maximum. So for example if you choose size 2048 x 2048 pixels, the image you receive will have a maximum dimension of 2048 and, if it is not square, the other dimension will be less, to keep the image in proportion.

About our Picture Shop

The picture shop features archive images of canals, the ice trade, and Islington in London from the London Canal Museum collection. The archive images are available in different file sizes and with different licences for their use. Archive photographs of inland waterways include a significant collection from the 1900s and we also feature pictures of Islington in the early 19th century. We have a collection of prints and a collection of images of the ice trade. All these images are available for commercial and educational use and in books, magazines etc.
