The Prince Regent as Prince of Wales, around 1810

The Prince Regent acted in place of the monarch during the Regency period of 1811-20 due to the mental illness of King George III. He later succeeded his father and became King George IV. This drawing was of the Prince as Prince of Wales, just before the start of his Regency. As regent he gave his name to The Regent’s Canal.
