Roses & Castles

Key Stage 2

Introduction

During the 19th century the families who lived on canal boats began to decorate them, to make them look good & feel special. Not only did they paint the boats, they also decorated many of the jugs, bowls, and other things they used every day. The museum has a collection of things painted in this way. Pupils should be taught to develop their techniques, including their control and their use of materials, with creativity, experimentation and an increasing awareness of different kinds of art, craft and design.
