London Canal Museum has three types of furniture available:
- Basic furniture - folding oblong tables and non-upholstered chairs,
normally available free
- Banqueting furniture - round tables and upholstered chairs for
dining or conference use - at a charge
- Meeting room furniture - tables and upholstered chairs for use in
the meeting room only
Basic Furniture
We have 11 folding leg tables (sometimes incorrectly called
tressle tables) available. The sizes are (in inches):
- 3 of 24" x 72"
- 5 of 27" x 72"
- 3 of 24" x 60"
In addition there are 40 gallery chairs available. These are not
upholstered. We have two coat rails.
No charge is made for use of basic furniture at any event. For informal,
unseated events, and for small events, the basic furniture is normally
sufficient. The meeting room furniture is not normally available for use in the
museum galleries and is not part of the basic furniture. Coat rails are
provided free for all large scale events.
Banqueting Furniture
We have a complete set of banqueting
furniture comprising 12 tables and 120 chairs. The tables are round, of 5 feet
diameter. The chairs are a comfortable folding design with upholstered seats
and contoured back supports in an attractive design. The colour is blue. These
are suitable for a seated meal or for theatre style conferences. The charges
for use of the banqueting furniture are:
- Use of complete set £300 plus VAT (£250 plus VAT if your
professional caterer undertakes to put all furniture away at the end)
- Use of chairs only £200 plus VAT (£150 plus VAT if your
professional caterer undertakes to put all furniture away at the end)
- Use of tables only £150 plus VAT (£100 plus VAT if your
professional caterer undertakes to put all furniture away at the end)
- A reduction of £100 is offered if fewer than half the tables and
chairs are required.
- Your caterer is responsible for setting up the furniture. (Except that in
the case of business conferences we usually quote a price inclusive of set-up
by museum staff). If the caterer also undertakes to put it all away at the end,
a reduced charge applies as above. This reduction applies when a professional
catering company commits to keeping staff on the museum to the end of the event
and putting the furniture away. The people doing the puttng-away cannot be
guests at the function.
- Table cloths and other linen are normally arranged by your caterer. We can
provide good quality white or cream disposable round cloths at £7.00 plus
VAT per table with 10 days notice. The price is reduced to £6 if your
caterer is setting the tables and we need only supply the cloths to the
caterer.
- If you require table cloth hire we can, with notice, arrange it for you, or
you can ask your caterer to arrange this. Usually the caterer arranges linen
when a meal is being provided. We charge £25 plus £10 per cloth and
you can choose from white, green, blue, navy blue, maroon, and black round
polyester cloths.
- If you would prefer a quotation for your event to include use of banqueting
furniture, simply tell us when making your enquiry.
Meeting Room Furniture
The meeting room has a flexible layout of 8 tables and 12 fully upholstered
grey chairs. These are normally for use in the meeting room only. Where theatre
style meetings for up to 20 are held in the conference room, we provide
additional seating at no extra cost. Quotations for hire of the small
conference/meeting room are inclusive of all tables and chairs, except that a
small supplement is charged for round tables.
External hire
You or your caterer can hire furniture externally from any company except
Hallmark Catering and Equipment Hire. If you hire furniture externally you need
to book storage facilities with us as may be necessary and have plans in place
for it to be put in store at the end of the event, either by us or by your
caterer.
Please Make an enquiry to ask
for a quotation or check availability, to book, or contact us to arrange a
viewing.
