Venue Hire
A unique, unusual party venue in London, at which to celebrate your birthday, anniversary, retirement, or have your leaving party. The interesting and attractive waterside surroundings of London Canal Museum will be rememberd long after guests have thanked you for choosing such an interesting place in which to hold your function!.
This page covers private functions without loud music - by which we mean music that can be heard outside. You can have background music at this type of event. Other pages tell you about music parties.
The museum's two floors offer different environments and you can use both to best advantage. Both floors have brick walls. The ground floor is dominated by a scenic arch bridge and the colourful narrowboat Coronis, and you are surrounded by exhibitions and displays. The first floor is notable for its magnificent Victorian timber roof, and there is more space on this floor that can be made available for meal tables, or to accommodate a large number of guests. There is an outside waterfront wharf area, which may be used by guests until 2200 only, and this looks out over the urban beauty spot that is Battlebridge Basin, once a hive of industry, but now home to numerous colourful canal boats. The museum is full of character and has often been called charming.
Boat trips can be arranged in connection with functions at the museum, including dinner cruises.
The building is Victorian and Edwardian, but the facilities are modern. We
have a small kitchen providing the basic infrastructure to enable your chosen
caterer to serve you anything from a snack to a five course dinner. The caterer
provides all cooking equipment. You are free to use the outside caterers of
your choice, whether they bring in drinks, snacks or a lavish buffet. We
provide coat rails as standard and of course there are modern separate ladies
and gents toilets, plus a toilet for
disabled persons. Power supplies are available around the
walls of the museum so that nowhere is far from one if you need to use
electrical equipment - perhaps a cocolate fountain? We have a small public
address unit that you can hire to play your own background music. Wine glasses
are available for hire

Parties with loud music are the subject of our Music Parties Page. At a drinks party,, on any night of the week, you can have background music that cannot be heard outside. For example, why not book a harpist, a string trio, or a flautist? You can also engage an entertainer such as a magician. You can have recorded background music, at a level that cannot be heard outside the building.
