The prices shown on this page are for guidance, they are not a quotation for
your specific event and they don't cover every possible customer requirement.
We're very flexible and are happy to quote for your exact needs. VAT is added
to all charges.
Compare us to other venues
We offer some furniture free of charge. There is no separate charge for use
of the kitchen, or for coat rails. We do not require you to use caterers who
will pay us commission and charge you more. There is no corkage charge. We do
not charge for reasonable refuse disposal following your event.
Parties, Wedding Receptions and Other Events with Music and Dancing
The prices below are for all evening events which involve loud music and
dancing. From experience this type of event involves more work and more
cleaning than simple receptions, therefore a higher tarif is applied.
- 1630 - 2300 £800
- 1630 - midnight £1045
- 1630 - 0100 £1245
These events can only be held on Fridays, Saturdays, or days when the
following day is a public holiday. There are limits on the number of these
events held in the museum - please see our
availability
information (pop-up window) or ask about availability for your choice of
date. A reduction of £50 is offered on the above charges if the event
starts later at 1800, in which case there will not be any access until 1800.
Limited furniture is included, banqueting furniture is available at an extra
charge.
Receptions, dinners and other evening events without loud music or dancing
These prices are for social reception type events, launches, etc. where
there is no lound music or dancing. Quiet background music is acceptable. Add
£50 to the prices below if we need to clear all the movable displays from
the first floor to make a large space, e.g. for a seated meal or a reception
for a large number of people. The prices include our basic furniture of 10
tables and 40 non-upholstered chairs. If the basic furniture is not sufficient
we can offer our banqueting furniture set at extra cost. See our

meetings and conferences are normally inclusive of all furniture and will make
clear what is and is not included.

Reductions for local community organisations, and for waterways
organisations, may sometimes be offered. A reduction of £50 is offered on
the above charges if the event starts later at 1800, in which case there will
not be any access to the building until 1800.

- Hire of museum 0900 to 1700 on a Monday for a conference of up to 50
delegates maximum, seated theatre style £475

Evening Business Conferences
Sample prices for evening business conferences including all furniture.
Please note that on Tuesdays to Fridays we start setting up and arranging
furniture etc no earlier than 1630.

Small Conferences and Meetings
Hire of small conference room only, for the times shown. Self-service
refreshments are included at no extra charge. These are samples, we will quote
for your exact requirements. All tables and chairs are included.
Tuesdays to Sundays
- Times 1000 - 1630 £95 There is no half-day rate, this is the minimum
charge.
- To start at 0930 add £20
- To start at 0900 add £30
- To start at 0830 add £45
- To start at 0800 add £60
- To finish at 1700 add £15
- To finish at 1730 add £25
- To finish at 1800 add £30
- Evenings, up to 3 hours ending by 2200 £135 (minimum charge)
- Prices include self service tea/coffee/biscuits throughout the meeting but
do not include VAT

Mondays
- £95 for the first five hours - daytime meetings ending by 1800
- For each additional hour add £10
- For a start time earlier than 1000 add £20 supplement. A minimum
total charge of £100 applies if the start time is 0845 to 0959. For very
early starts please ask for a special quotation.
- Evenings after 1800, up to 3 hours ending by 2200 £135
- Prices include self service tea/coffee/biscuits throughout the meeting but
do not include VAT

Storage
You hire the museum or conference room for a specific period of time. The
price you pay for this does not include any use of the premises for storage
outside the hire period. You are welcome to have things delivered after the
start of the hire period and have everything taken away at the end of it.
However, in many cases it is convenient to be able to have things delivered in
advance, or left afterwards, for example overnight until next day. We offer the
use of our conference room for storage purposes in connection with a function
in the museum. The following are the most common customer requirements:
- Overnight following an evening function to 1300 next day £50
- From 1300 on the day of an evening function until the start £30
- From 1000 on the day of an evening function until the start £50
- From the end of a Saturday evening function until an agreed time on the
following Monday £100
We do not allow storage of anything in the exhibition galleries during our
opening hours to the public, or overnight after an evening function (An
exception is sometimes made on Sunday nights). Access to the storage facility
is of course only available when the museum is open, or by arrangement.

Refreshments, Furniture and Equipment Hire
- Self service refreshments for meetings in the small conference room are
included in the hire charge.
- Tea/coffee/biscuits served by museum staff - economy service using
disposible cups £0.80 per delegate present, per serving session.
- Hire of banqueting furniture 12 tables (5 foot diameter, round) and 120
chairs (upholstered seats, contoured back support). £250 for all
furniture or £150 for chairs only, e.g. for theatre style events.
- Round disposable white or cream table cloths for our 5' round tables
£7 per table (2 weeks notice needed)
- Enhanced tea/coffee/biscuits service using china cups and ground coffee
£1.75 per delegate present per serving session
- Wine glass hire £3 per dozen (144 Paris goblets available)
- Overhead projector £15
- Data projector £45 (technical support is not provided at small
meetings)
- Projection screen (not required in small conference room) £20
- Use of video/DVD player in main first floor gallery £20
- Small public address unit with radio microphone £25
- 35mm slide projector £15

We believe we offer excellent value for money compared to other interesting
heritage venues in London. Our policy of allowing you to choose your own
caterer means you can obtain the best deal on catering, which can often be the
biggest cost at a function. If you are comparing us with other venues, check
what's included in the price. We do not make an additional charge for: use of
kitchen during the hire period, coat rails, use of our basic furniture.
